Two 300-pound robots slice and spin, crash and smash as, only feet away, BattleBots fans erupt with excitement. The legendary robot combat competition has always been the safest, with a BattleBox arena that’s indestructible, and a custom air scrubbing system keeping the air in the Las Vegas venue clean and fresh.

Included in the BattleBots arsenal of safety equipment is the novel innovation CellBlockEX, a mineral lithium-ion battery fire suppressant made by CellBlock FCS and used by fire departments everywhere for HAZMAT response. BattleBots has used CellBlockEX for years as an overpacking solution to safely contain damaged or defective batteries.

BattleBots Names CellBlock Official Battery Safety Partner

In recognition of CellBlockEX’s effectiveness, BattleBots has named CellBlock FCS its Official Battery Safety Partner and added new CellBlock products to its impressive lineup of safety systems. New battery safety equipment includes FireShield Blankets, a formidable battery storage cabinet, and a wall-hung EHS LIBIK (Lithium-ion Battery Incident Kit) for each combat pit crew. The cabinet successfully contains the most explosive robot battery forces, and they also have patented passive fire suppression in every shelf.

“The wonderful thing about the partnership with CellBlock is more tools, newer tools, and updated technology— like fireproof blankets that we throw over the robots when they’re exiting, on fire,” said Robert Bahr, Safety Inspector and Robot Operations Manager for BattleBots.

CellBlock recently sat down with BattleBots’ own “Safety Rob” for his thoughts on robot tactics, the best part of being a safety inspector, new gear, and the safest robot warrior tips to keep in mind when building a robot at home.

How to Watch BattleBots and Safety Rob

The latest BattleBots action (now available on YouTube) recently aired Thursday evenings on Discovery Channel in over 150 countries, as the Golden Bolt 2 competition pitted teams from all over the world against each other for the big prize. Die hard BattleBots fans can see killer robot carnage up close and live as Destructathon in Las Vegas lights up the BattleBox several days a week. Flying bolts, flames, exploding batteries and splintered saw blades are no match for the safest robot battle arena imaginable.
